Two people are appearing in a Bloemfontein court today in connection with Thabo Bester’s prison escape. Senior reporter Slindelo Masikane gives us an update.

As South Africans await the return of fugitives Thabo Bester and Nandipha Magudumana following their arrest in Tanzania, police are rounding up those suspected of orchestrating Bester’s escape from the Mangaung prison.

A former G4S employee and a 65-year-old man are appearing before the Bloemfontein magistrate’s court.

They are both facing charges of aiding and abetting a prisoner’s escape from custody.

Police on Monday confirmed that one of the suspects is Magudumana’s father.

Bester, Magudumana and a Mozambican national were arrested in Tanzania at the weekend.
