Shoprite Group, South Africa’s biggest retailer, has expanded its portfolio once again and launched a clothing store brand called UNIQ.
According to Shoprite, UNIQ will focus on providing customers with comfort, simplicity, superior fabrics and value. The store will cater to all family members and consist of various fabrics and colours that are easy to mix and match, with every item of clothing designed well and also made to last.

The first store is set to open in Cape Town’s Canal Walk shopping Centre, with 8 more stores scheduled to open in the next coming months:

Each new store will create an average of 9 new jobs, with well-trained employees assisting customers on the sales floor.
UNIQ will become the first clothing retailer in South Africa to introduce Supima cotton to the mass market, which is softer, stronger, as well as having the ability to absorb colour better than regular cotton.
According Shoprite, the premium quality launch range includes a luxurious womenswear, an extensive collection of t-shirts, modern menswear, children’s basics, puffer jackets, and underwear for both men and women.
UNIQ will also be the first clothing retailer in the country to offer self-service checkout, with smart stages and frequency identification, which will allow customers to scan and pay for items easily.
