In November 1993, tragedy hit Herman Mashaba’s ‘Black Like Me’ factory in Mabopane, north of Pretoria. His security guard called him around 2am with the news, “There is smoke coming out of the factory.”
Soon afterwards, Herman and his wife, Connie, went there as quickly as they could, and watched helplessly as flames destroyed his factory.
Despite all of that, Mashaba stood tall and told his staff, “we will rise out of the ashes”
The insurance company played tricks and paid him half the value of the business but nonetheless, HE BUILT ANOTHER FACTORY!!
