The new Ford Ranger Single Cab is officially on sale in South Africa, with the cheapest units starting at just over R464,000.

The single cab body shape is only available in the base XL specification with a total of four variations depending on the gearbox and wheel layout selected.

The local pricing for the entry-level bakkie is as follows:

  • Ford Ranger 2.0 SiT single cab XL manual – R464,200
  • Ford Ranger 2.0 SiT single cab XL auto – R477,800
  • Ford Ranger 2.0 SiT single cab XL 4×4 manual – R531,300
  • Ford Ranger 2.0 SiT single cab XL 4×4 auto – R545,000

The 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel that powers the range is capable of delivering 125kW and 405Nm, and its fuel consumption is pegged at 6.9l/100km for the six-speed manual and 7.5l/100km for the six-speed automatic.

It also has a wading depth of 800mm, is certified to tow 3,500kg, and can transport a load of up to 1,163kg in the back.

On the outside, the XL is fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels, a black rear bumper, electronic side mirrors, a rear differential lock, automatic halogen headlights and daytime running lights, a front tow hook, load box tie-down points, and mud flaps.

Furthermore, the Ranger comes standard with four-way manually adjustable cloth seats, a multifunction steering wheel, climate control, electric windows, six airbags, traction control, hill assist, an 8-inch digital driver display, and a portrait 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Ford’s Sync4 operating system, four speakers, and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
