Who is Cheslin Kolbe?
Cheslin Kolbe is a rugby union player known for his explosive speed, agility, and tactical brilliance. Born on 28 October 1993 in Kraaifontein, Cape Town, Kolbe overcame early doubts about his size to become one of the most dynamic wings in world rugby. He has played for the Stormers, Toulouse, and Toulon, and broke SA rugby news by becoming a two-time Rugby World Cup winner with the Springboks in 2019 and 2023.
From Rugby Stardom to Property Ventures
Kolbe grew up in Kraaifontein and rose through the ranks to achieve international success in rugby. In 2024, he and his wife Layla became brand ambassadors for Devco Group, a South African property development firm.
As part of the partnership, they invested in the Kleinbaai Lifestyle Estate, a coastal residential project in the Overstrand area—reflecting Kolbe’s interest in long-term financial planning and community-focused development.

Cheslin Kolbe and his wife Layla launched the Cheslin Kolbe Foundation in September 2024 to support underprivileged children through sport, education, and community upliftment. Inspired by Kolbe’s own upbringing in Kraaifontein, the idea was sparked when he saw a young boy playing rugby barefoot, reminding him of his childhood.
In December 2024, the foundation partnered with iStore and iSchoolAfrica to launch a digital education programme at Petunia Primary in Kraaifontein, equipping classrooms with iPads, teacher training, and mentorship to boost numeracy and digital skills.
