Fourways Mall's scale and the practical retail questions
Accelerate's 28 September 2026 announcement reports Fourways Mall's GLA as 179,973 square metres at 31 August 2026. That places it among the country's very large centres under a defined measure. Comparing it with another mall requires the same lettable-area basis rather than a mix of retail, total building and precinct area.
The expanded centre's 2019 launch is a separate milestone from the original mall's opening. A history should not assign both the same date or preserve conflicting opening years without suitable evidence.
For shoppers and tenants
Use the current store directory and access information to plan a visit. Entertainment, parking and individual store arrangements can change. An old description of a queue or a personal visit cannot establish what a shopper will find today.
For a business considering space, inspect the unit and request the full lease costs and requirements. Overall size does not prove that the particular location will attract enough suitable customers or that a rent concession is available.

It should not be compared with another centre's total built footprint or a whole mixed-use precinct when assessing Gauteng's retail scale.
For a prospective tenant, examine the actual unit: position, visibility, nearby uses, loading and the customers likely to pass it. A centre's overall floor area cannot establish how many suitable customers will enter a particular shop.
Request the complete occupancy cost and model a realistic sales range. In a hypothetical month, rent and operating charges are due even when sales fall below the forecast. Include fit-out, deposits and opening stock in the cash required before trading begins.
Use dated landlord reports to follow vacancy or redevelopment, and the centre's current information for stores and access. Rumours about future attractions or a general turnaround do not establish today's lease terms. This gives the mall profile operating substance without invented visits, conflicting parking totals or assured retail opportunities.
