After earning bursaries to study accounting at the University of Pretoria, the twins balanced their studies with part-time work at South African Breweries and later at Software Connection, a local tech store. In 1996, armed with a R4 million loan from the Connection Group, the BCX founders launched Business Connection. Their vision was clear: to create more than just an IT shop. They wanted to build a legacy.
Building a Tech Giant
The early days were tough. Securing office space was a challenge, but they eventually settled in a small Brooklyn property. Their first clients, South African National Parks and the CSIR, marked the beginning of what would become a remarkable journey.
A pivotal moment came in 1997 when Business Connection secured a R100 million deal with Telkom to provide Microsoft licenses. This deal catapulted the company into a new league, enabling rapid growth and expansion.
Over the next two decades, the BCX founders led the company through mergers, acquisitions, and international expansion. By 2004, Business Connexion (as it was then known) was listed on the JSE, with annual revenues exceeding R3 billion.

Tragically, Benjamin passed away in 2014, but his legacy lives on. Isaac continued to lead the company until its acquisition by Telkom for R2.7 billion in 2015. Today, BCX remains a cornerstone of South Africa’s ICT sector, contributing billions to the economy annually.
