Mobile Telephone Networks popularly known as MTN, is a South African telecommunications company that operates in many African and Asian countries, with its headquarters in Johannesburg.

The company was launched in 1994 as M-Cell but in 1999, the name was changed to MTN. Since its inception, the company has grown to become one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world.

Active in over 20 countries, one-third of the company’s revenue comes from Nigeria, where it holds about 35% market share.

As of November 2022, MTN recorded 280 million+ subscribers, making it the largest mobile operator in Africa and 8th in the world.
