In mid 2023, KFC launched its first high-tech restaurant in South Africa. This new store is designed in a way that customer service is easier, quicker, and seamless. First of its kind in Africa, the store features digital menu boards in each of the dual lane drive thru.
On top of that, it also boasts a dedicated window for delivery drivers, self-service kiosks for walk in customers, digital menu boards and the latest in connect kitchen technology which ensures the correct amount of stock at all times as well as better quality management.

KFC Africa CEO, Thuthuka Nxumalo, revealed that most businesses around the world were moving into a “new era of customer experience”.
“The approach to new restaurants needs to shift too — driven by a shift in preferences and expectations of what brands should be delivering today be it in food, design or experience,”.
Thuthuka further added that the store has created another stream of employment for 25 community members.
