The $9.05 Billion Deal Johann Rupert Missed & What We Can Learn From It

A wise man once said, “in the end, we only regret chances we didn’t take.” — believe it or not, that same quote also applies to wealthy people.

In late 2016, South Africa’s richest man, Johann Rupert, revealed that he once had the opportunity to buy half of Gucci for $175 million in 1994 but didn’t take that shot due listening to other people, and not his inner voice.

“Being too conservative and not doing deals that I could have done at the time because I listened to other people”.

Rupert on why he hesitated buying half of Gucci

Had Rupert’s Richemont bought half of Gucci which is now worth $18.1 Billion, it would’ve added extra $9.05 Billion to Richmont’s current $103.04 Billion valuation.

So what can we learn from this?? Well simple, trust your gut.
